Yokanan Tri Kurniawan Pamungkas, Manager of PLN NTT Regional Main Unit, said the program was launched at an elementary school in the Sidabui Village, South Alor Subdistrict.
"SuperSUN, which uses a micro-solar power plant equipped with a battery energy storage system (BESS), is a solution for areas unreachable by conventional electricity grids," he explained on Tuesday.
Pamungkas said the initiative reflects PLN's commitment to expanding access to education and improving the quality of life for people in remote regions.
SuperSUN is designed to provide reliable, renewable, and environmentally friendly electricity, especially in isolated areas such as Sidabui.
"We hope the electricity will not only illuminate classrooms but also enable children to study longer and teachers to innovate in their teaching," he added.
F. Eko Sulistyoso, General Manager of PLN NTT Regional Main Unit, said SuperSUN represents the company's social responsibility to ensure equitable energy distribution across Indonesia's remote areas.
"PLN is not only turning on the lights, but also igniting hope. Electricity is not just about energy — it's about the nation's future,” he remarked.
Sulistyoso reiterated PLN's commitment to expanding renewable energy-based electrification so that development benefits can be felt evenly throughout NTT.
Zakeos Makalbani, the school's headmaster, expressed gratitude for the long-awaited arrival of electricity.
"Now students can study longer, and teachers can use digital tools. The arrival of SuperSUN truly brings new enthusiasm to us," he said.
