"We are seeking to increase oil and gas lifting and to optimally utilize all energy sources that our country has. God willing, in 2029–2030, we can realize at least 80 percent energy self-sufficiency," he said here on Tuesday.
Lahadalia noted that to achieve the target, the government will not rely solely on the state budget but will also collaborate with the private sector and state-owned enterprises (SOEs).
"For example, through PLN (the state electricity company), we will build solar panels with a capacity of 80–100 gigawatts (GW). We will realize this with support from foreign investors in collaboration with PLN," the minister said.
To achieve energy self-sufficiency, which President Prabowo Subianto aims to realize within six years, the government has taken several measures, including the mandatory use of B40 biodiesel — a blend of 40 percent biofuel and 60 percent fossil diesel.
This step is intended to reduce diesel imports, with the government planning to raise the blend to 45 or 50 percent by 2026.
Furthermore, Lahadalia said that the government will review plans to introduce E10, a 10 percent ethanol blend in gasoline, to reduce fuel imports and promote cleaner, more environmentally friendly fuel.
President Director of state-owned oil and gas company Pertamina, Simon Aloysius Mantiri, expressed readiness to implement the program, noting that Pertamina’s initiatives are aligned with the government’s agenda to strengthen national energy security.
"Pertamina already has an E5 product, namely Pertamax Green 95, which contains 5 percent ethanol," he said.
