Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on Wednesday inaugurated Dr. Benjamin Paulus Octavianus as Deputy Minister of Health, alongside other key appointments, at the State Palace in Jakarta.

The ceremony followed Presidential Decree Number 32M of 2025, which covers dismissals and appointments of deputy ministers for the 2024–2029 cabinet term.

Octavianus, a pulmonologist and former Special Staff to the Defense Minister for Health, took his oath pledging loyalty to Indonesia’s 1945 Constitution and committed to serving the nation responsibly.

“I will uphold the Constitution and strictly implement all laws and regulations,” Octavianus said during the oath-taking.

Prabowo also inaugurated Akhmad Wiyagus as Deputy Minister of Home Affairs.

Additional appointments included Matius Fakhiri and Aryoko Rumaropen as Governor and Deputy Governor of Papua for 2025–2030, Anggito Abimanyu as Chairman of the Deposit Insurance Corporation’s Board of Commissioners, Ribka Haluk as Head of the Executive Committee for Papua Development acceleration, and several Indonesian ambassadors to friendly nations.

The event was attended by cabinet ministers, heads of state institutions, and senior officials from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and National Police.

Octavianus joins Dante Saksono Harbuwono as the second deputy minister at the Health Ministry.

Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said the appointments reflect President Prabowo’s strategic focus on strengthening tuberculosis (TB) control.

“Benjamin Paulus Octavianus is a pulmonologist, which aligns with the President’s priority to accelerate tuberculosis elimination,” Sadikin said.

The appointments underscore Indonesia’s effort to reinforce governance and development across key ministries and regions as it embarks on its 2024–2029 cabinet term.
