Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya announced that the creative economy's contribution to national export growth in 2024 reached Rp400 trillion (US$25 billion), contributing more than 9 percent of total national exports.

"The export value from the creative economy sector by the end of 2024 absorbed 26.5 million workers, the majority of whom are young people and women," he informed in a press statement on Friday.

He then stated that the creative economy sector is a key driver of national export growth.

In 2025, his ministry is targeting an increase in exports to US$26 billion, an increase of $1 billion from the previous year.

Investment in the creative economy continues to grow, totaling Rp90 trillion (US$5.4 billion) by mid-2025, or around 66 percent of the year’s target, Harsya said.

He explained the subsectors with the highest contributions include applications, fashion, culinary arts, and crafts, followed by games, music, and animated film, which also continue to grow.

"In the first semester of 2025, export realization reached around 50 percent of the BPS (Statistics Indonesia) target. Next year, we are targeting an increase to US$28 billion or around Rp450 trillion in export value. We hope to see increased investment value to strengthen export capacity and expand international market opportunities," the minister remarked.

According to him, during the first year of the Prabowo-Gibran administration, cross-sector synergy is considered necessary in expanding market access for creative economy players abroad.

This sector not only empowers the middle class but also generates inclusive employment opportunities that adapt to technological developments and global trends, Harsya added.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Industry Faisol Riza said that manufacturing accounts for over 70 percent of Indonesia's total exports, with the textile and electronics industries showing promising, rapid growth over the past year.

"The fastest-growing sectors over the past year are textiles and electronics. There is a significant relocation of investors, especially foreign investors, to this sector," he conveyed.
