“SPPGs — or Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units — will create demand. A new market is emerging, and it guarantees purchases with our partners,” Hindayana said in Bekasi, West Java, on Friday.
He explained that integrating the cooperatives into the MBG supply chain will allow farmers, breeders, and fishermen to coordinate production and distribution more effectively.
“They will schedule planting and harvesting collectively so that the entire supply is pooled in the cooperatives. Then, the BGN’s SPPGs will purchase directly from them,” he said.
Hindayana noted that each SPPG typically requires at least five tons of rice per month. By acting as off-takers for key food commodities, the village cooperatives will strengthen the MBG kitchens’ supply chain and ensure the availability of essential ingredients.
Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises Minister Ferry Juliantono said the collaboration will be sustained to support the MBG program, one of the government’s national priorities.

“Hopefully, these village cooperatives can consistently supply what the MBG kitchens or SPPGs need,” he said.
Under Presidential Instruction No. 9 of 2025, the Cooperatives Ministry has launched 80,000 Red and White Village Cooperatives across Indonesia.
Launched in July, the program aims to strengthen local economies, promote equitable development, eradicate extreme poverty, and improve the welfare of villagers.
The government said the cooperatives are not only designed as platforms for community-owned businesses but also as hubs for distributing staple goods, empowering farmers and fishers, and eliminating exploitative middlemen that have long disadvantaged rural producers.
By linking the MBG kitchens with local cooperatives, the government expects to build a more inclusive food supply system that benefits both producers and consumers in rural areas.
