Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs reported that Indonesia recorded strong job and investment growth during the first year of President Prabowo Subianto’s administration, compared with the first year under his predecessor.

“By the second quarter of 2025, job creation reached 665,000. Compared with 220,000 new jobs created in the same period five years ago, this represents a threefold increase,” said the ministry’s secretary, Susiwijono Moegiarso, in a written statement on Friday.

In addition to job creation, Indonesia also saw a significant rise in investments during Prabowo’s first year in office. According to Moegiarso, investment growth increased by around 2.5 times compared with the same period five years earlier.

“In early 2021, the average quarterly investment was around Rp200 trillion,” he noted. “In 2025, this figure has exceeded Rp450 trillion per quarter.”

The positive trend has encouraged the government to intensify efforts to attract more investors, ensuring that economic progress benefits all Indonesians.

Moegiarso expressed optimism that the sustained growth in investment will further boost Indonesia’s gross domestic product (GDP).

“What matters most is how we continue to make investment the backbone of our economic growth,” he said, adding that investments are expected to generate a multiplier effect across various sectors.

He emphasized that investments will play an increasingly vital role in Indonesia’s economy, particularly as household consumption remains the primary driver of gross fixed capital formation (GFCF), which currently accounts for 28 percent of GDP.

The government is also working toward achieving an annual economic growth rate of eight percent, as envisioned by President Prabowo Subianto.

“To reach the eight-percent target, it is crucial to make investments the cornerstone of our economic activities,” Moegiarso concluded
