"We have started the initiative. We will have Indonesian-made cars in the next three years," he said in his speech at a plenary cabinet meeting at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday.
He said the government had allocated funds and land for the construction of the factory that will produce domestic vehicles, which is currently being prepared by the development team.
Prabowo noted that Indonesia has successfully produced Maung tactical vehicles, which have been used by government and military officials. The vehicles became a source of national pride because they were designed and manufactured domestically by state-owned defense company PT Pindad.
On that occasion, he also urged Cabinet members to use Maung vehicles for their work duties. Monday’s plenary cabinet meeting marked one year since President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka were inaugurated on October 20, 2024.
At the meeting, the President outlined several achievements of government programs carried out under his administration, including the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program, which has reached 36.7 million beneficiaries.
He also praised ministers from diverse backgrounds for their collective work, which he said has helped the government deliver strong results over the past year.
