Three flagship programs—Free Health Checkups (CKG), tuberculosis (TBC) elimination, and regional hospital development—have driven progress, said Aji Muhawarman, head of the ministry’s Public Communications Bureau.
As of Oct. 20, more than 46.9 million people had registered for free checkups under the CKG program, with 43.9 million already screened.
The screenings, held at 10,000 primary care centers and 125,000 schools, include checks for blood pressure, diabetes, anemia, and nutritional status.
“Central obesity, diabetes, and hypertension are the most common issues identified,” Muhawarman said.
“Pot belly sufferers face twice the risk of diabetes and heart disease. Dental health problems are also widespread,” he added.
He said data from the screenings helps inform national health policies and prevention strategies.

On tuberculosis, the TBC Information System recorded 621,000 detected cases by October 5 — 57 percent of the 2025 target of 1.09 million. About 562,000 people, or 90 percent, have begun treatment.
Prevention efforts also rose, with 143,284 people receiving TBC preventive therapy in 2025, up from 79,008 in 2024.
Over 7,000 clinics now use digital systems to improve early detection and treatment monitoring, alongside door-to-door screenings in remote and densely populated areas.
The government is also accelerating hospital development in under-served regions. D-grade hospitals are being upgraded to C-grade with new operating rooms, dialysis units, radiology labs, pharmacies, and more.
Indonesia aims to build 66 regional hospitals, with 32 slated to begin construction in 2025.
As of October, work on 22 hospitals is underway, averaging 55 percent completion. Tarempa Hospital in Anambas leads with 73 percent progress.
“No one should struggle to access healthcare due to geography,” Muhawarman said.
