“In international politics, we support each other and share the same stance. On the issues of Palestine and Ukraine, we both want a quick ceasefire,” Prabowo said in a joint statement with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva at the Merdeka Palace here on Thursday.
Prabowo emphasized that both countries consider real and just peace essential.
He reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to pursuing a political solution based on the two-state approach as a path toward resolving conflicts in the Middle East.
“We want real peace, leading to a political solution - the two-state solution. That is what I wish to convey,” the President said.
President Lula echoed similar views, stressing that Indonesia and Brazil share the same commitment to peace, sustainable development, and a fairer world order.
He strongly rejected the genocide in Gaza and reaffirmed his country’s support for the two-state solution as the only viable path to peace in the region.
Lula also underlined the need for comprehensive reform of the United Nations Security Council, noting that such changes are necessary to address the lack of representation and decision-making deadlock at the global level.
“Only comprehensive reform of the UN Security Council can overcome the current lack of representation and existing stalemates,” Lula stated.
The bilateral meeting between President Prabowo and President Lula at the Merdeka Palace was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
The state visit marked an important moment to strengthen the strategic partnership between Indonesia and Brazil.
Prabowo described the talks as productive and said they reinforced cooperation in several key sectors, including trade, technology, energy, agriculture, and defense.
He added that collaboration between the two nations holds great potential for promoting regional stability and sustainable progress.
