Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar said the program provides emerging game developers with opportunities to receive initial funding support for developing game prototypes.
She confirmed that the winners have been selected and have already attracted interest from an international publisher.
“This program gives new local game developers the initial capital to start creating their own game seed,” Irene said in Jakarta on Saturday.
She emphasized that Kemenparekraf’s support goes beyond funding, focusing also on helping developers build a strong business foundation to ensure their products have economic value.
According to Irene, creating a game without proper marketing and sales strategies could hinder the growth of Indonesia’s creative industry.
In addition to training and mentorship, Kemenparekraf is reviewing regulatory aspects to strengthen cross-sector collaboration.
The government aims to foster a supportive environment where local developers can become more competitive and productive.
Irene also stressed the importance of marketing and collaboration to increase public interest in locally made games.
She expressed hope that developers would create intellectual properties (IPs) that not only reflect Indonesia’s creative identity but also contribute significantly to the national economy.
As part of the National Creative Economy Day celebration, running from October 1 to 31, 2025, Kemenparekraf has partnered with UniPin to launch the #BanggaMainLokal campaign.
The initiative seeks to expand the local gaming market and raise awareness of the potential of Indonesia’s gaming industry.
Co-Founder and CEO of UniPin, Ashadi Ang, said the second edition of #BanggaMainLokal demonstrates Kemenparekraf’s continued commitment to supporting the growth of the local gaming sector.
He added that UniPin’s presence in multiple countries could open up cross-market collaboration opportunities and further drive the nation’s digital economy.
Through Game Seed 2025, developers will receive not only technical training but also guidance in career development, idea innovation, and game prototyping.
The program is designed to help Indonesian talent meet the challenges of the modern gaming industry, produce commercially viable works, and compete on both national and global stages.
