Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Ministry of Creative Economy organized the Gameseed 2025 event as a strategic program to foster competitive creative economy talents capable of driving economic growth while promoting local cultures through the game industry.

“Gameseed represents one of the government’s concrete steps toward positioning the creative economy as a new engine of national growth. It is expected to promote our cultures through games and help us produce quality human resources,” Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya said.

In a statement cited here on Sunday, he noted that the ministry collaborated with several partners in holding the third edition of Gameseed, including the Indonesian Game Association (AGI), Tencent, Google, and Nuon Digital Indonesia.

The government also envisions the program as a platform for aspiring game developers to better understand the industry landscape, available opportunities, and the broader creative economy ecosystem.

Beginning with a roadshow last May, Gameseed 2025 featured a series of capacity-building activities, including matriculation, game jams, curation, incubation, and a final pitching session involving selected game developers.

During the session, the finalists presented their original games before a panel of judges to secure spots among the top three under two categories: public and student.

The session was streamed online and drew more than 2,500 live viewers, reflecting strong public enthusiasm for the growth of Indonesia’s game industry and its creative products.

AGI President Shafiq Husein described Gameseed as a valuable platform for advancing the national game industry, noting that the event offered prizes totaling Rp102 million (over US$6 thousand) as a form of appreciation for local developers’ creativity and innovation.

“With support from the government and industry partners, we aim to ensure that Indonesian talents continue to grow and have the opportunity to contribute to the game industry,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, Tencent’s representative Agung Chaniago expressed confidence that the Creative Economy Ministry’s initiatives would help boost participants’ confidence and connect them with fellow developers and publishers.
