Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) has deepened its commitment to education research through a strategic partnership with the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Center for Early Childhood Care Education and Parenting.

In a statement issued Monday, Head of BRIN’s Education Research Center, Trina Fizzanty, described the collaboration as a crucial step toward advancing research in early childhood education—particularly in developing an equitable and inclusive budgeting model.

“The Education Research Center at BRIN comprises around 70 researchers organized into eight clusters, including early childhood education and family research,” she said.

Fizzanty expressed hope that the partnership would expand BRIN’s research network and lead to more inclusive, community-driven education policy studies and innovations.

The cooperation between BRIN and SEAMEO CECCEP encompasses joint research and development of early childhood education budgeting models, deployment of experts, and shared researcher resources.

It also includes data sharing, access to research facilities, and the organization of workshops, seminars, and knowledge exchange sessions.

In the same statement, SEAMEO CECCEP Director Vina Adriany thanked BRIN for its collaboration and emphasized the importance of strengthening their shared commitment to advancing early childhood education in Indonesia.

“This partnership marks a key moment for enhancing research, advocacy, and equitable policy practices in early childhood education,” Adriany said.

The Indonesian government is currently working to extend compulsory education from 12 to 13 years, incorporating one year of early childhood education. According to the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Indonesia now has 240,505 early childhood education institutions nationwide.
