Mu'ti delivered the statement after launching the National Teachers’ Month, which carries the theme “Great Teachers, Strong Indonesia.” The program aims to strengthen multi-stakeholder collaboration in improving teachers’ competence and welfare.
The bonus increase is part of the government’s gift to commemorate this year’s National Teachers’ Day.
“As part of the National Teachers’ Day celebration, we are announcing an increase in honorarium-paid contract teacher incentives to Rp400 thousand per month starting next year. The amount may still be small, but we are committed to gradually improving teachers’ welfare,” he said on the occasion.
He explained that the incentive, distributed directly to teachers’ bank accounts, represents a new breakthrough under the administration of President Prabowo Subianto.
This year, the ministry has distributed incentives to more than 300 thousand contract teachers, with each receiving Rp300 thousand (US$18.02) per month for seven months.
According to him, a total of Rp736.31 billion in incentives has been disbursed to 347,383 teachers this year, achieving a realization rate of 95.5 percent.
“The 2025 incentives were distributed in a lump sum in July, with each teacher receiving Rp2.1 million (US$126.13),” he noted.
With the increase, the ministry aims to boost teachers’ motivation to enhance their competence in teaching and learning activities as well as in personal development.
“Of course, we encourage teachers to continuously improve their competence, skills, and spirit of dedication in providing quality education services,” Mu'ti said.
