Speaking to reporters at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Friday, Prabowo said the suspect has not yet been questioned, as the person was severely injured in the incident and is currently undergoing surgery.
"Our team has launched an investigation into the perpetrator’s identity and other key information, including their address," he stated, adding that police will release further details once confirmed.
He explained that the suspected individual is among the two people currently undergoing surgery following the incident.
"One of the two individuals undergoing surgery is suspected to be the perpetrator. We are still gathering information to identify the motive behind the explosions," he said.
The police chief noted that the incident, which involved two blasts near the school mosque around 12:15 p.m. local time, left dozens injured. The school is located within a housing complex belonging to the Indonesian Navy.
"The number of victims is between 50 and 60, and a medical post has been set up to treat them. Several have already been discharged," he confirmed, emphasizing that no fatalities were reported.
After inspecting the scene, investigators found replica toys and handwritten materials believed to be linked to the explosions.
"These items will also be examined to determine the perpetrator’s motive and the method used. We will provide complete information once all findings are verified," Prabowo added.
Meanwhile, Minister of State Secretariat Prasetyo Hadi stated that President Prabowo Subianto has ordered authorities to prioritize proper medical treatment for all victims.
The president also urged the public to learn from the incident and remain vigilant in their surroundings—both at home and in schools—to prevent similar events in the future.
