Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has received reports about the explosions that occurred at Public Senior High School (SMAN) 72 Jakarta on Friday afternoon, Deputy Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Polri), Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo, confirmed.

"Yes, the incident has already been reported," he told the press at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta after attending the inauguration of the Polri Reform Acceleration Committee.

Prasetyo added that all follow-up measures, including on-site investigations, are being carried out by personnel from the Polri Headquarters and the Greater Jakarta Police.

"A probe into this incident is already underway, and we will soon make the result public. In principle, the authorities are moving quickly to deal with this issue," he stated.

At around 12:15 p.m. local time, two blasts were reportedly heard at SMAN 72, located within a residential complex of the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, while students and teachers were performing the Friday prayer.

One blast was detected in the school mosque, while the other occurred near the rear gate of the school.

According to the latest reports, the incident affected dozens of people, with three sustaining serious injuries and 17 others suffering minor wounds. The injured were initially treated at the complex’s health post before being transferred to two nearby hospitals.

Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago stated that no conclusions have been made regarding the cause of the blasts or any possible links to terrorism.

"We still have no clue on the cause," he told reporters at the palace, noting that an investigation is still ongoing at the scene.

Similarly, Head of the TNI AL Information Office Rear Admiral Tunggul said his side cannot yet provide further details, as the investigation is still ongoing.

"The TNI AL and Polri are still working to identify the blasts' cause and determine the number of victims. We will convey more information once valid data has been compiled," he remarked.
