He noted that Indonesia is establishing a collaboration with related parties to ensure its carbon market is built on a foundation of trust.
"The collaboration reflects our determination to ensure that our carbon market is built on trust, integrity, and national sovereignty," Antoni said at the High-Level Breakfast Roundtable at the Sustainable Business COP30 (SBCOP) in Sao Paulo, Brazil, as quoted from a statement on Monday (November 10).
At the event, the Ministry of Forestry and the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop a high-integrity voluntary carbon market ecosystem and ensure carbon market development aligns with the highest global standards.
"Indonesia's vast tropical rainforests not only serve as the lungs of the world, but also act as the center of the world's transition to a credible and equitable carbon economy," he stated.
By aligning with global integrity standards, the minister said Indonesia is building the foundation for a transparent carbon market ecosystem based on science, which is beneficial for local communities and indigenous peoples.
Earlier, President Prabowo Subianto had issued Presidential Regulation Number 110 of 2025 concerning the Economic Value of Carbon and National Greenhouse Gas Emission Control, which strengthens the legal basis for carbon market management in Indonesia.
On the same occasion, the President's Special Envoy for Climate and Energy, Hashim Djojohadikusumo, expressed his full support for the Ministry of Forestry's initiatives.
He considered this collaborative step aligns with Prabowo's vision of positioning Indonesia as a global carbon trading hub with strong integrity that delivers socio-economic benefits to the people.
In the same statement, ICVCM CEO Amy Merrill lauded Indonesia's progress in the carbon market.
According to her, Indonesia has taken positive steps toward a carbon market and decarbonization financing.
"This collaboration exemplifies the harmonization of national policies and global standards to achieve tangible climate impact," she said.
At the UNFCCC COP30, Minister Antoni campaigned for Indonesia: From Rainforest to Global Carbon Hub and Marketplace.
He also attended the United for Wildlife Global Summit and High-Level Ministerial Roundtable, a prestigious meeting organized by The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales in Rio de Janeiro on November 4, 2025.
