Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Forestry Rohmat Marzuki said the Indonesian Pavilion at COP30 in Brazil aims to demonstrate that the forestry sector plays a strategic role not only in achieving the country’s emission reduction targets but also in improving community welfare.

“Through the Indonesian Pavilion, the ministry seeks to show that forest management in Indonesia is not only about protecting forests but also about upholding social justice and enhancing community welfare,” Marzuki said in an official statement on Tuesday.

He explained that the Forestry and Other Land Uses (FOLU) Net Sink 2030 program represents Indonesia’s strong commitment to strengthening community-based conservation efforts.

“For the ministry, the opening of this pavilion also provides an important opportunity to reinforce Indonesia’s reputation and position in sustainable forest management,” he added.

Marzuki expressed hope that the pavilion’s presence would encourage stronger global cooperation and highlight Indonesia’s concrete efforts to reduce emissions from the forestry and land-use sectors on the international stage.

The Indonesian President’s Special Envoy for Energy and Climate Change, Hashim Djojohadikusumo, earlier stated that the pavilion’s participation at COP30 symbolizes Indonesia’s leadership in developing a high-integrity carbon market and advancing global green diplomacy toward a low-emission economy.

“This pavilion serves as a platform for exchanging knowledge and ideas, realizing the shared goals established by the global community in the 2015 Paris Agreement and reaffirmed in subsequent accords,” Djojohadikusumo said when inaugurating the Indonesian Pavilion at COP30 in Belém, Brazil, on Monday (Nov. 10) local time.

He said that over the next eleven days, the pavilion would host discussions, bilateral meetings, program presentations, and international collaboration sessions.

“We are opening the door as widely as possible for all stakeholders to participate,” he emphasized.

Djojohadikusumo also expressed hope that the Indonesian Pavilion would strengthen the nation’s contribution to global climate action.
