Twenty residents in Cibeunying Village, Majenang Sub-district, were reportedly still missing as of Friday, according to BNPB.
"The President conveyed his condolences. He instructed BNPB to deploy personnel to the site and assist in completing the landslide response in Majenang until the emergency response period is over," said Budi Irawan, BNPB's Deputy for Emergency Response, in a statement received on Saturday.
In a coordination meeting with the Cilacap District Government on Friday, he noted that 512 joint personnel have been deployed, including personnel from the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), the National Armed Forces (TNI), and volunteer organizations.
BNPB has also increased the heavy equipment deployed to eight units and brought in sniffer dogs (K-9) to accelerate the search for victims of the landslide.
"The basic needs of the affected residents are met through public kitchens and health posts that have been operating to serve residents and SAR personnel," he said.
The search operation for missing victims is being conducted with caution due to the difficult terrain and ongoing light-to-moderate rain, which makes the area highly susceptible to subsequent landslides.
Meanwhile, several families living near the landslide site have also temporarily evacuated to safer locations with the assistance of the joint team.
BNPB appealed to the residents to remain alert as light to moderate rainfall is still likely to occur until Sunday, November 16, especially in the Majenang basin area, which is prone to landslides.
