Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has voiced support for President Prabowo Subianto's determination to seize corruptors' assets and use them to procure interactive flat panels, or smartboards, to digitalize teaching and learning in schools.

"We fully support the president's commitment to optimizing asset recovery because corruption crime causes economic losses to the state," KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated in Jakarta on Tuesday (November 18).

He assured the public that the anti-graft commission continues to make all-out efforts to recover corruption-linked state losses by confiscating implicated assets in the initial stage of investigation.

"It should be noted that we view asset seizure not only as a step toward solving a corruption case but also toward recovering losses," he pointed out.

Prasetyo further elaborated that the assets that have been seized might proceed to be auctioned in an effort to undo the economic damage caused by those implicated in corruption.

"The funds generated through the auction will then be channeled to the state's treasury, into the State Budget (APBN)," he stated.

On November 17, President Prabowo affirmed that the government will pursue corruptors in Indonesia and use their money to advance the modernization and digitalization of the education sector nationwide.

"We will aim for all the money of corruptors. We will go after such thieves and use their assets to boost educational services for all children," he remarked during the launch of the Digital Learning for a Smart Indonesia initiative in Bekasi City, West Java.

On that occasion, the head of state announced the government's target to install about one million smartboards in classrooms across Indonesia in 2026, with 288 thousand units expected to arrive in designated schools by December this year.

So far, 215,572 units have been shipped, with 172,550 already delivered to schools and 43,022 still in transit to their destinations, according to the latest data shared at the event.
