Badung, Bali (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Trade Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri asked the Apple Developer Academy Bali to collaborate in optimizing the country's micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

"Today, we are discussing collaboration with Apple Academy to facilitate our MSMEs," she said in Badung, Bali, on Friday.

She underlined the importance of this collaboration, given the focus on the UMKM Bisa Ekspor (MSMEs Go Export) program.

Putri then pointed out that MSMEs’ main challenge is marketing, despite their products being export-worthy and high quality.

"Our MSMEs are unable to utilize certain applications to market their products and penetrate the international market," she explained.

Therefore, with the assistance of human resources (HR) at the Apple Developer Academy, Putri sees an opportunity to increase exports of MSME products, which currently contribute 60 percent to Indonesia's total Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

She expressed confidence in the academy’s human resources. So far, it has produced 2,400 graduates, 95 percent of whom now work in e-commerce companies.

In addition, all have been trained in coding, developed their own applications, and some have even launched startups.

"Essentially, we cannot escape from technology; we must embrace it and utilize it effectively. This is the collaboration we want to pursue now," she addressed.

Furthermore, she mentioned that this collaboration will also expand, as the Apple Developer Academy also operates in Surabaya, Jakarta, and Batam.

The Ministry of Trade targets that this collaboration will increase MSMEs product exports to the 33 countries within Indonesia's existing network.

"Our goal is to improve our MSMEs product marketing to reach potential buyers abroad," she noted.

"We hope this facility will continue to run in the future. We are working on many collaborations, including collaborations with other ministries," she added.

Located at Parc23 in Denpasar, the Apple Academy can accommodate up to 220 participants per class. It is the first international Apple Developer Academy in Asia, run in partnership with Apple and BINUS University.
