Korlantas Chief Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho told Parliament’s Commission III that government plans to apply work-from-anywhere and work-from-home policies on Dec. 22–24 may shift traffic patterns and prompt earlier departures, particularly for travelers using the Trans-Java corridor and the Merak–Lampung route.
To manage congestion, the police will launch Operation Lilin 2025 from Dec. 20, 2025, to Jan. 2, 2026, with a nationwide roll call scheduled for Dec. 19.
Korlantas also forecasts two peak return waves on Dec. 28, 2025, and Jan. 4, 2026. The government plans to extend WFA/WFH measures from Dec. 29–31 to ease traffic during the return period.
Suryonugroho said Operation Lilin will focus on four security clusters. The first covers toll roads and supporting networks, including arterial, provincial and alternative routes.
The second cluster includes ports and crossings. The third covers public activity centers, tourist destinations and New Year’s Eve celebration venues.
The final cluster encompasses places of worship.
