Speaking at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Thursday, he acknowledged policy missteps in the airport’s management and said they had triggered public controversy.
He also questioned the absence of immigration and customs officers at the airport, saying government intervention was necessary to resolve the issue.
However, Sadewa said he had not received any formal instructions to take part in handling the case.
“If we were asked to intervene, it would be resolved quickly. But right now, there are no orders,” he said.
The Ministry of Transportation earlier confirmed that the private airport operated by IMIP is officially registered. The confirmation followed allegations that the airport was operating without the presence of state authorities. The facility is used to transport workers and logistics for the company.
IMIP is an integrated nickel industrial zone involved in upstream and downstream processes, producing materials such as stainless steel and carbon steel.
During a visit to the airport on November 20, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin warned that irregularities could harm the state, particularly in the management of natural resources. He cited the development of transportation facilities without government involvement as one example.
