“Jambi has declared its hydrometeorological alert status. Today, we held a meeting with stakeholders from the police, military, and the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG). The meeting recommended this status upgrade,” Head of the Jambi Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), Bachyuni Deliansyah, said here on Friday.
He confirmed that by December 1, 2025, teams would be mobilized, involving personnel from the military, police, River Management Agency, Public Works and Housing Office, BPBD, and the Health Office. These teams will handle threats from floods and landslides.
Mapping indicates flood-prone areas along the Batanghari River banks, while landslide risks are spread across highland areas, particularly in Sungai Penuh City and Kerinci District.
A recent landslide on theTapan route connecting Sungai Penuh-Pesisir Selatan prompted the disaster alert declaration.
According to BMKG Jambi, rainfall has increased, averaging 300 millimeters, signaling potential hydrometeorological disasters in the province.
“Even though it is categorized as moderate, we must remain vigilant. If water levels rise, affected residents are advised to evacuate,” he urged.
Ahead of the year-end holidays, the government and related agencies have established command posts across all districts and cities. These posts aim to bring services closer to affected communities.
“Ahead of Christmas and New Year, we have a main post at the old airport, posts at the police headquarters and sub-regional military command, and offices at BPBD in all districts and cities. These posts are integrated with the local police offices,” Deliansyah explained.
