Head of the Navy Information Service Commodore Tunggul confirmed here, Friday, that hospital ships and patrol vessels are part of the operation.
“The hospital support ships KRI Soeharso‑990 and KRI Semarang‑594 will support logistics delivery, troop movement, and evacuations,” he said.
Additional vessels — KRI Teluk Banten‑516, KRI Teluk Gilimanuk‑531, and KRI Teluk Celukan Bawang‑532 — have been tasked with transporting tents, medical equipment, and rubber boats.
The Navy also deployed its newly acquired Italian‑made vessel, KRI Brawijaya‑320, for logistics support.
Beyond warships, four helicopters from the Navy’s Aviation Center and elite Kopaska amphibious commandos are being mobilized to reach residents trapped by floodwaters.
“The Marine Health Battalion is also ready to provide medical services, establish field health posts, and provide emergency care for injured victims,” Tunggul added.
He said aid packages would be delivered throughout the week, with the possibility of a second wave if needed. “We hope this delivery will help speed up and improve evacuation efforts,” he noted.
According to the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), flash floods and landslides have struck 13 districts in North Sumatra, while affected areas in West Sumatra include Agam, Padang Pariaman, Bukittinggi, Solok, and Padang.
In Aceh, 10 of 23 districts have declared flood emergencies, displacing nearly 1,500 people and causing two deaths.
President Prabowo Subianto earlier instructed authorities to accelerate aid delivery and emergency response.
Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, together with the military, police, and regional governments, continues to mobilize teams for logistics distribution.
