“For anyone planning to work abroad, prepare yourselves properly. Do not fall into misleading promises or deceptive offers,” he said on the sidelines of the SMK Go Global workshop in Bandung on Monday.
Muhaimin noted that many job offers circulating among the public point to destinations that are often illegal, such as Cambodia.
He stressed that people must be cautious about any offer they receive, especially those spread through unofficial social media channels such as Facebook and Instagram.
“Use all available information channels, especially formal ones, whether from the private sector or the Ministry of P2MI,” Muhaimin said.
Minister of Protection for Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) Mukhtarudin earlier emphasized that the state’s priority is strengthening migrant worker protection, not merely increasing deployment numbers.
Mukhtarudin said that 80 percent of problems faced by migrant workers arise during the recruitment stage. For that reason, the Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Service Centers (BP3MI) must be at the forefront of ensuring that registration, selection, and placement processes remain transparent and comply with procedures.
He stressed that no BP3MI head or staff member should engage in collusion or allow unqualified or noncompliant applicants to pass through the process.
“President Prabowo Subianto has instructed that protection must be carried out comprehensively—from pre-departure to employment abroad and post-placement,” Mukhtarudin said.
