The Minister, while accompanying President Prabowo Subianto on a visit to the flood site in Central Tapanuli, North Sumatra, on Monday, stated that the central and regional governments were working together to distribute the basic needs for affected residents.
"We are ensuring that the evacuees receive adequate assistance," he said, according to a statement received in Jakarta.
The ministry recorded that the total value of reserve logistical aid distributed to the three provinces reached approximately Rp14.6 billion (around US$876 thousand).
The aid includes ready-to-eat food packages, children’s meals, tents, blankets, mattresses, clothing, family equipment, and other emergency response supplies.
In addition to reserve logistics, the ministry is also operating public and independent kitchens with support valued at around Rp4.5 billion (around US$270 thousand).
According to Yusuf, public kitchens are operating at 28 locations with a production capacity of approximately 88,000 meal packages per day, at least until Monday, the seventh day of the emergency response period.
He noted that supplies have been allocated to West Sumatra's nine public kitchens serving about 30,000 meals daily, North Sumatra's 12 kitchens with comparable capacity, and Aceh's seven kitchens providing roughly 28,000 meals each day.
"The capacity of the public kitchens continues to increase daily as evacuation centers increase and needs are adjusted to on-the-ground needs," he said.
Thus, the total disaster response support distributed by the ministry to date has reached around Rp19.1 billion (around US$1.1 million).
During the emergency period, the ministry will continue working with the disaster management agency and local authorities to ensure assistance is delivered appropriately, prioritizing vulnerable groups including young children, elderly people, persons with disabilities, and pregnant women.
