“When the public understands the urgency of halal standards, and producers or business owners implement them, the halal ecosystem becomes stronger and more sustainable,” BPJPH Head Ahmad Haikal Hasan said in a statement on Wednesday.
He said broader awareness of the importance of halal certification is central to improving halal literacy and ensuring stronger implementation of halal assurance across Indonesia.
“Halal education must be seen as an integral part of building a national halal ecosystem,” he said.
Hasan said BPJPH continues to widen the reach of its literacy programs through public outreach, education, publications, technical guidance and support for halal certification.
These initiatives cover micro and small enterprises as well as certification service providers outside BPJPH, including Halal Product Process (PPH) facilitators, supervisors, auditors and halal slaughterers.

He added that the effort requires collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders — central and regional governments, the House of Representatives (DPR), universities, halal centers, experts, researchers, communities, the private sector, associations and local leaders.
“This collaboration is part of a shared initiative to support mandatory halal certification under Law No. 33/2014,” Hasan said.
“With broad education and cross-stakeholder cooperation, BPJPH expects the national halal ecosystem to grow stronger, more inclusive, productive and sustainable,” he said.
Hasan previously stressed the need to strengthen the sector through higher compliance and faster halal services.
He said the global halal economy carries vast potential, with transaction values exceeding Rp21,000 trillion, or about US$1.26 trillion.
