Jakarta (ANTARA) - Head of the Indonesian Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH), Ahmad Haikal Hasan, called on all regional governments to actively facilitate micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in halal certification.

This, according to him, aligns with the Asta Cita missions of President Prabowo Subianto to realize the economic independence of the people, strengthen MSMEs, and achieve national food sovereignty.

"Regional governments must facilitate halal certification for MSMEs that need assistance. We must make the process easier for them and strengthen them together," he said in a statement on Friday.

He also asserted that regional government support is essential to ensure micro and small business players who face limitations are not constrained by the cost or the process of halal certification.

"Regional governments must facilitate MSMEs in halal certification. By doing so, the benefits of the halal economy will also be directly felt by residents in the regions," he stated.

Hasan further said that his agency's policy direction for 2025–2029 is guided by the 2025–2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN).

It specifically supports the second national priority, namely, strengthening the halal ecosystem, and the eighth national priority through the transformation of halal product assurance administration.

According to him, the mandatory halal certification not only provides legal certainty regarding the halal status of products but also opens up major opportunities for MSMEs to penetrate the global market.

"Halal certification not only provides protection for consumers but also economic opportunities for MSMEs. Halal-certified products will be more trusted by the market and will become an added value for the regions," he remarked.

Apart from that, he emphasized that the halal mandate must be an integral part of regional development and serve as a driving force for community economic growth.
