A live broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel showed that the conversation began with a discussion about a vase displayed in one of the palace rooms.
President Prabowo later presented a photo of a panda that had recently given birth. He noted that the mother panda has been in Indonesia for a decade.
“This panda was given to us ten years ago. Just yesterday, it gave birth to one baby,” Prabowo said.
He explained that the panda delivered a single cub and has remained close to care for it.
Prabowo added that Indonesia Safari Park asked him to name the newborn panda. He chose the name Satrio Wiratama, with Rio as the daily nickname.
“The Safari Park asked me to give it a name. I named it Satrio Wiratama, which means a brave, noble, and virtuous warrior. That’s the full name, but every day we will call him Rio,” he said.
After hearing the meaning behind the name, Wang Huning joked that the panda should be sent to the military, drawing laughter from Prabowo.
Wang also expressed his appreciation for the successful birth, noting that breeding pandas is a challenging achievement.
“It is not easy at all,” Wang said.
Prabowo highlighted that the panda had been in Indonesia for ten years and only gave birth during his presidency.
Wang then shared a Chinese proverb, Ji Ren Tian Xiang, which signifies good luck or an auspicious sign for a person.
“There is a proverb in China, Ji Ren Tian Xiang. It means a person will always encounter good things,” Wang said.
