"Following the floods and landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, the reopening of transportation routes remains the government main priority before moving further into the infrastructure rehabilitation and reconstruction stages," said Dody in a statement in Jakarta on Friday.
According to the report of Balai Pelaksana Jalan Nasional (BPJN) Aceh, Direktorat Jenderal (Ditjen) Bina Marga as of December 3, 2025, several strategic road sections that were previously cut off due to floods and landslides have now been reconnected and restored to operational status.
Road sections that have been successfully restored and are now passable include the Banda Aceh–Meureudu road section which has been reconnected. The Kota Lhokseumawe–Kota Langsa border road section is also accessible, with sediment-clearing work continuing on site.
Kota Langsa–Kota Kuala Simpang segment has been cleared of flood sediment. As of December 3, 2025, Kota Kuala Simpang–Batas Provinsi Sumatera Utara segment is passable for all vehicle types, while clearing works continue.
Kota Kutacane–Batas Provinsi Sumatera Utara segment is also accessible. Meanwhile, Genting Gerbang–Celala–Batas Aceh Tengah/Nagan Raya segment in the highland area has been reconnected and is currently accessible for two-wheel vehicles.
Simpang Uning–Uwaq–Blangkejeren road section has reopened for two-wheel vehicles and is now being prepared to accommodate four-wheel vehicles.
In addition, the Sumatra I River Basin Agency (BWS) has taken part in restoring access and responding to disaster impacts in Aceh Tamiang Regency. Access to Aceh Tamiang has now been reopened to support the distribution of logistical aid and facilitate residents’ mobility to basic service centers.
BWS Sumatra I has deployed two heavy machines to remove mud and debris from road sections and drainage channels. In addition to equipment support, the agency has also distributed basic food aid to affected communities.
