Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Head of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Information Center, Brigadier General Osmar Silalahi, noted that 30,864 TNI personnel have been deployed to accelerate disaster response in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

"So far, 30,864 TNI personnel have been deployed to the disaster-hit areas, comprising Army, Navy, and Air Force personnel," he remarked at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in Jakarta on Sunday.

He explained that the deployment consists of personnel who were already stationed in the regions, as well as those coming from various other regions across Indonesia.

In addition to personnel, TNI has also deployed its air fleet, including 18 aircraft and 36 helicopters of various types. Furthermore, 16 vessels have been deployed, consisting of 14 Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) warships and two Landing Craft Utility (LCU) vessels from the Indonesian Army (TNI AD).

"We have deployed these strategic assets to transport both aid and personnel," Silalahi said.

He further noted that a total of 1,559 tons of logistical aid had been shipped to the disaster-hit areas, with 26 tons of essential supplies distributed directly to the community via airdrops.

He emphasized that the TNI will continue to optimize its resources for humanitarian missions across the three disaster-hit provinces.

Floods and landslides hit Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra in late November 2025 following high-intensity rainfall.

The respective governments of the three provinces have declared a disaster emergency response status, effective from November 28 to December 11 for Aceh, November 27 to December 10 for North Sumatra, and November 25 to December 8 for West Sumatra.

According to data from the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), as of December 7, the death toll from the disasters had reached 921, while 392 people were still missing.
