Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government is accelerating cleaning, repairs, and service restoration at regional hospitals affected by recent floods and landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

Director of Health Surveillance and Quarantine Sumarjaya said on Sunday that restoring basic services is the ministry's top priority.

"We are working non-stop to ensure service restoration," he said, stressing that the government will reopen healthcare services as quickly as possible for affected communities.

Intensive cleaning is underway at Aceh Tamiang Regional Hospital with support from the military and the fire department. Flooded areas, including the emergency room, hemodialysis unit, and polyclinic, have been cleared, while the pharmaceutical warehouse remains safe with adequate supplies.

For basic operations, the hospital has received two generators. A technical team from Adam Malik Hospital is inspecting all medical equipment to ensure functionality.

Logistical support is also being expedited to Datu Beru Regional Hospital in Takengon, Central Aceh. A generator was delivered by a helicopter to Sultan Iskandar Muda Air Force Base before being transported onward.

PLN said installation work began immediately, with power already restored in several areas near the hospital. The state-owned electricity company also dispatched two additional generators for Datu Beru Hospital and Muyang Kute Hospital in Bener Meriah District.

Sumarjaya said inspecting equipment and sterilizing treatment rooms are crucial before resuming operations. The Health Ministry aims to gradually reopen several affected regional hospitals as recovery progresses.
