A 30 percent rail fare discount will apply from December 22 to January 10, targeting 1.509 million passengers, according to the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto.
The government expects the measure to help manage peak-season crowding while ensuring affordability for long-distance and regional routes during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
Sea transport will also receive substantial support. A 20 percent discount on passenger ship fares will be offered from December 17 to January 10, aimed at 405,881 travelers across major ports.
The government will additionally waive 100 percent of port service charges—equivalent to 19 percent of the integrated tariff—between December 22 and January 10, covering an estimated 227,560 passengers and 491,776 vehicles.
Officials said the policy is designed to ease bottlenecks at port terminals and reduce the financial burden on families returning to their hometowns.

The aviation sector will offer 13 to 14 percent airfare discounts from December 22 to January 10, with a projected 3.5 million passengers expected to benefit.
Airlangga said the measure is intended to stabilize prices on high-demand routes and encourage airlines to boost seat availability during the year-end peak.
Road users will also see relief, with toll road discounts of 10 to 20 percent introduced across several major corridors.
Airlangga said the government coordinated with toll operators to align the discount period with projected surges in holiday traffic and to help improve travel flow during the Christmas and New Year exodus.
Officials say the combined incentives—spanning rail, sea, air and road travel—are part of a nationwide effort to maintain price stability, prevent holiday-season fare spikes, and support safe, affordable mobility for millions of Indonesians.
The ministry expects the coordinated approach to significantly ease transportation pressures throughout the peak travel period.
