Banda Aceh, Aceh (ANTARA) - The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) is planning to establish integrated evacuation centers in every sub-district of flood-hit Aceh to streamline basic services for the evacuees.

The Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari, said here on Thursday that the establishment of integrated evacuation centers is aimed at reducing the dispersion of evacuation points.

"BNPB will build integrated evacuation centers. These integrated centers will be placed in every sub-district, where evacuees will receive basic services," he remarked.

Muhari explained that these integrated services include public kitchens, health services, sanitation facilities, trauma or psychosocial recovery support, education services for children, and others.

According to him, the number of integrated evacuation centers will depend on the number of evacuees in each sub-district. The number could range from five to ten locations.

"The integrated evacuation centers are provided until temporary housing is available. This is intended to bring the survivors closer to basic services," he affirmed.

He mentioned that out of the 18 districts and cities affected by the floods and landslides in Aceh, 13 districts and cities had scattered evacuation points. The evacuees in the province are spread across 2,186 points.

Devastating floods and landslides struck three provinces of Sumatra—Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra—in late November 2025 following high-intensity rainfall.

According to data from the BNPB, as of December 11, the death toll from the disasters in the three provinces had reached 990, with 407 of the total recorded in Aceh.

In the province, the total number of damaged houses reached around 138.5 thousand, with the highest number of evacuees recorded in East Aceh, Aceh Tamiang, and North Aceh, at 238.5 thousand, 209.5 thousand, and 153.5 thousand, respectively.
