Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo has arrived in West Sumatra Province to carry out another round of on-site assessments of residents’ conditions and infrastructure in regions affected by the recent severe floods and landslides.

The presidential aircraft landed at Minangkabau International Airport in Padang Pariaman District on Wednesday at 6:31 p.m. local time, according to ANTARA's observation.

Accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya on his flight, the head of state was welcomed by West Sumatra Governor Mahyeldi and West Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Gatot Tri Suryanta upon his arrival.

The visit marked Prabowo’s second trip to Padang Pariaman District and his third visit to Sumatra Island in the wake of widespread disasters that also struck multiple cities and districts in Aceh and North Sumatra provinces in late November following heavy, prolonged rainfall.

Prabowo began his direct inspections of disaster response efforts on December 1, visiting affected areas in Central Tapanuli and North Tapanuli districts in North Sumatra, Southeast Aceh District in Aceh, and Padang Pariaman in West Sumatra.

He returned to Aceh on December 7 to assess heavily impacted areas in Bireuen District and to chair a disaster response coordination meeting in Banda Aceh before embarking on a diplomatic tour to Pakistan and Russia.

Shortly after returning home, the president once again traveled to Aceh last Friday (December 12), conducting on-site inspections of recovery progress in Bener Meriah and Aceh Tamiang districts. The following day, he visited flood-hit communities in Central Aceh District and Langkat District, North Sumatra.

West Sumatra Governor Mahyeldi has reported that conditions in the cities of Solok, Payakumbuh, and Bukittinggi had significantly improved, enabling the lifting of emergency status.

Meanwhile, several other regions still required intensive emergency measures, including Agam District, Pariaman City, and Pesisir Selatan District.
