Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu'ti emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring that education services continue despite emergency situations while simultaneously providing support for the dedication of teachers in disaster-impacted regions.
"The government is present to ensure emergency education can proceed while also providing support for teachers who continue to serve in affected areas," Minister Mu'ti stated here on Wednesday.
He mentioned that 17,500 teachers are targeted recipients of the special allowance, amounting to Rp2 million per person, as a form of state recognition for their dedication to maintaining educational duties during emergencies and helping alleviate economic burdens caused by disasters.
In addition to supporting teachers, the ministry is distributing educational financial aid through established mechanisms to support the recovery of educational services at affected units.
The financial aid is utilized to support emergency education operations, the recovery of learning facilities, and other urgent needs according to field conditions.
Regarding in-kind assistance, the ministry has distributed 2,873 emergency classroom units to support temporary learning continuity, 141,335 student learning kits, and 16,239 family kits to support their needs during emergency response and displacement across three provinces affected by floods and landslides.
These efforts are carried out through close coordination with local governments and stakeholders. The ministry continues to update and verify data periodically, as some areas remain difficult to reach in Aceh and North Sumatra.
