“Some 366 puskesmas affected by the disaster are now functioning and serving the public's health needs,” Acting Head of the Aceh Health Office Ferdiyus said here on Saturday.
However, 30 other puskesmas remain non-operational due to mud burial, severe damage, and other impacts from the disaster.
“The puskesmas that are not yet functioning are spread across six districts and cities heavily affected by flash floods and landslides in late November 2025,” he said.
Regarding government hospitals in the disaster areas, Ferdiyus noted that all are serving the public, though hospitals in Aceh Tamiang District are operating under limited conditions.
“Some medical equipment in these hospitals cannot be used due to flash floods. However, basic services in the hospitals are running,” he added.
For private hospitals, five have resumed operations, while three remain closed due to disaster impacts.
“Overall, public health services continue to operate. Currently, 794 health workers have been deployed to disaster areas to care for flood victims,” he said.
These health workers include general practitioners, specialists, nutritionists, environmental health experts, and others, with a focus on vulnerable groups in shelters.
“Their presence ensures that disaster victims continue to receive healthcare, considering that many are in shelters and vulnerable to disease,” Ferdiyus explained.
Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno earlier announced that several disaster-affected districts and cities in Sumatra have entered a transitional phase from emergency response to recovery, reflecting progress in disaster handling.
The districts and cities starting the transition phase include Southeast Aceh, Subulussalam, Aceh Besar, Padangsidimpuan, Padang Panjang, and Mandailing Natal.
