"We face the future with courage. Yes, there will be problems and challenges, but we all must unite, working hand in hand to address them," he told the public in Serang, Banten, on Saturday (December 20).
During a nationwide mass signing of 50,030 subsidized home loans under the People’s Housing Credit scheme (FLPP), Prabowo emphasized that, as a diverse nation comprising hundreds of ethnic groups, Indonesia must remain united and resilient in the face of challenges.
On that note, he assured the public of the state's all-out efforts to handle the impact of the disasters that struck Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, saying that the central and regional governments, the military, and the police are all working to serve the people during the emergencies.
The president noted that thanks to such collaboration, disaster response efforts in the three provinces have shown significant improvement, rekindling hope for a swift post-disaster recovery.
He credited all emergency personnel for their relentless work in erecting urgently needed temporary infrastructure, citing the success of installing emergency bridges that restored land access within a week --projects that would normally take up to a month to complete.
Furthermore, the head of state highlighted ongoing emergency measures in remote areas, noting that the government has been working to ensure equitable distribution of essential goods and equipment by deploying helicopters to reach difficult terrain and overcome adverse weather conditions.
Reflecting on the nation's long history of independence wars, foreign force interventions, and ideological conflicts, Prabowo expressed optimism that Indonesia possesses the resilience and fortitude to withstand challenges and prevail.
