TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto explained that the figure includes the recent mobilization of 15 additional units—comprising five engineering battalions and 10 territorial development battalions—tasked with evacuating and serving victims as well as restoring key infrastructure.
During a cross-institution press conference at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in Jakarta on Monday, he elaborated that the additional units will focus on assisting the government in installing emergency bridges, constructing temporary and permanent homes, and clearing debris from public facilities and infrastructure.
"Furthermore, our personnel will also help provide clean water, carry out medical evacuation, distribute logistics, and offer trauma healing services," he remarked.
Subiyanto added that the TNI has been actively involved in disaster relief initiatives, including setting up 25 field kitchens, opening 124 drilled wells, establishing 42 health posts, and installing 186 public toilets.
"In fact, we have installed and opened several Bailey bridges, including Teupin Mane Bridge, Teupin Reudeup Bridge, Tamang Bangka Bridge, Kyta Biang Bridge, Weh Pase Bridge, Hamparan Perak Bridge, and Anggoli Sibangun Bridge," the general pointed out.
He went on to report the mobilization of 89 units of military equipment—including helicopters, transport aircraft, hospital ships, and naval vessels—to distribute heavy machinery, medical equipment, generators, fuel, and food, while also transporting health workers to disaster-affected areas across the three provinces.
The TNI, he continued, has so far supported the government in delivering a total of 2,669.53 tonnes of logistics by land, sea, and air.
He made the statement at a press conference chaired by Minister of State Secretariat Prasetyo Hadi, where government and security institutions provided updates on progress in disaster response in Sumatra.
Also present at the briefing were Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, National Police (Polri) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian, Deputy Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo Priyono, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, among others.
