Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia has recorded zero terrorist attacks throughout 2025, with the Indonesian Police’s Special Detachment 88 (Densus 88) counterterrorism corps playing a significant role in this milestone for the third consecutive year.

"Densus 88 has helped maintain 'zero terrorist attack' status from 2023 to 2025 through proactive law enforcement," Indonesian Police's Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) Chief Commissioner General Syahardiantono stated during the Police's year-end briefing on Tuesday.

The police corps has arrested 51 terror-related suspects in 2025, down from 55 in 2024 and 147 in 2023, he noted.

"It has effectively suppressed any threats and risks while helping maintain stability in the country," Syahardiantono added.

He then highlighted notable cases resolved by Densus 88 this year, including its success in foiling four planned terror attacks by the Jamaah Anshor Daulah militant group.

Densus 88 also uncovered online recruitment and terror indoctrination targeting underage people, affecting 110 children across 23 provinces, and made five arrests in connection with the case.

Meanwhile, during the ongoing Christmas and New Year’s Day security operation, the police corps apprehended seven terror-related suspects, the Bareskrim Chief noted.

Densus 88 has also assisted 68 children from 18 provinces who were exposed to far-right and violent ideologies, such as neo-Nazism and white supremacy from the "true crime community" or TCC.

“We found them to be proficient in dangerous weapons and planning to attack their school and classmates,” Syahardiantono remarked.
