Speaking on Saturday, Mu’ti stated that the revitalization of tens of thousands of schools is a priority for President Prabowo Subianto. The goal is to ensure all school buildings across Indonesia, including those in Southeast Sulawesi, possess adequate facilities and infrastructure.
“In 2026, around 71,000 educational units will be revitalized and repaired, and Southeast Sulawesi will certainly be part of that program,” he said.
Mu’ti explained that the program aims to provide proper facilities for students while supporting the improvement of national human resources.
President Prabowo has set a target for all unfit school buildings to be gradually repaired by 2029.
The Minister revealed that the ministry initially planned to repair only 11,000 schools in 2026.
However, President Prabowo expanded the scope by an additional 60,000 schools across all educational levels, an initiative announced during the Teachers’ Day commemoration.
In addition to infrastructure repairs, the ministry will provide up to four interactive flat panels (IFPs) per school and enhance competency training for primary and secondary school teachers.
“Teachers are not only agents of learning but also agents of civilization. Therefore, we are improving teacher welfare through certification and training,” Mu’ti added.
In 2026, the number of proposed upgrades for Southeast Sulawesi has increased to 1,374 school buildings.
Furthermore, 4,081 educational units, ranging from early childhood education (PAUD) to vocational high schools in the province will receive interactive digital board facilities.
