Indonesia’s state logistics agency (Bulog) will add 50,000 tons of rice to Aceh to secure food supplies following recent floods and landslides, as well as ahead of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2026.
Bulog President Director Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani said Aceh currently holds 64,889 tons of government rice reserves. The additional supply will raise total stocks to more than 100,000 tons to ensure availability and price stability during the disaster recovery period.
“We will push an additional 50,000 tons so the stock position is truly safe above 100,000 tons,” Rizal said at a press briefing at Indonesia’s National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) in Jakarta on Friday.
He said the measure is aimed at maintaining rice availability, stabilizing prices, and ensuring fair access to staple food as communities recover from floods and landslides while entering the fasting month.
In addition to rice, Bulog has prepared 307,220 liters of cooking oil as standby stock to support basic needs across the province, Rizal said.
During the emergency response phase, Bulog distributed 12,561 tons of government rice reserves to affected communities. Local governments also released 154 tons of rice as part of regional emergency logistics.
Rizal said Bulog had delivered an additional 5,000 tons of rice at the request of Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf, with supplies distributed to districts and municipalities across the province.
Separately, Bulog sent 8,922 tons of rice aid to Aceh under instructions from President Prabowo Subianto, along with 1,784 liters of cooking oil to strengthen household food security.
Aid distribution initially focused on Takengon and Bener Meriah, which were temporarily isolated by the disaster, before expanding to Aceh Tamiang and other affected areas.
Beyond food assistance, Bulog also provided cash support and clothing, Rizal said, reaffirming the agency’s commitment to maximizing logistical support for disaster-affected communities.
