BRIN Head Arif Satria said on Thursday that the effort is being carried out through the development of a future technology forecast, aimed at predicting and projecting technologies with long-term growth potential.
The projections are intended to prevent industrial investments from becoming technologically outdated by the time production facilities are fully operational.
“BRIN is currently preparing how we conduct future technology forecasting, how to predict and project technologies that will develop in 2030, 2040, and 2050,” Satria said at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta.
According to Satria, the national industrialization framework must be designed with future technological developments in mind so that incoming investments align with industrial needs and global technological progress.
In that context, BRIN has expressed its readiness to serve as a strategic partner to the Danantara Investment Management Agency, as well as the private sector in projecting the future direction of national industrialization and identifying the technologies that must be developed.
The collaboration will focus on jointly designing and implementing research programs aligned with the evolving needs of industry in the years ahead.
“BRIN is ready to become a partner for Danantara and for the private sector in Indonesia in projecting what our future industrialization framework should look like and what technologies must be prepared, and we will conduct joint research together,” Satria stated.
Satria added that BRIN will continue to strengthen collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology to support research and technology development as the foundation of national industrial growth.
He also noted that BRIN is preparing to enhance research in several sectors, including aerospace, through the acceleration of research on the N219 aircraft developed jointly by BRIN and PT Dirgantara Indonesia, as well as the development of amphibious aircraft to strengthen inter-island connectivity.
