Bandung, West Java (ANTARA) - State railway company KAI Operations Area 2 Bandung reported a seat occupancy rate of 72.4 percent, confirming West Java Province as a favorite destination for tourism during the Isra Miraj holiday period.

KAI Operations Area 2 Bandung Public Relations Manager Kuswardojo said here on Saturday that passenger movement has been massive, with arrivals peaking over the weekend.

As of Friday (January 16), a total of 48,829 tickets had been sold out of 67,410 available seats, and sales are expected to continue with on-the-spot ticket purchases.

Cumulatively from January 15-16, 2026, 29,680 passengers arrived, surpassing the 29,020 departures.

“We continue to optimize facilities and infrastructure, train and station services, and travel arrangements to ensure safety and comfort for all passengers. We also thank the public for choosing trains as their mode of transport during this Isra Miraj holiday,” Kuswardojo said.

On Friday alone, 14,967 passengers arrived across all KAI Operations Area 2 Bandung stations, while 14,030 departed. Bandung Station was the busiest, handling 5,185 arrivals and 4,737 departures, followed by Kiaracondong Station with 2,742 arrivals and 3,226 departures.

High passenger movement was also seen at supporting stations: Cianjur Station recorded 1,077 arrivals and 972 departures, followed by Tasikmalaya and Cipatat stations with hundreds to over a thousand passengers.

Amid high ticket demand, KAI Operations Area 2 Bandung offered a 10 percent discount on the Pasundan train route Kiaracondong-Surabaya Gubeng (round trip), valid for departures from January 11 to March 10, 2026.

Discounted tickets can be rescheduled or canceled according to rules but cannot be combined with other reductions.

KAI advised passengers to allow extra travel time to stations, as road traffic to major Bandung stations is heavy during the holiday period.
