Managing Director for Global Relations and Governance Mohamad Al-Arief said Danantara’s current assets stand at about $900 billion, equivalent to roughly 15.29 quadrillion rupiah at an exchange rate of Rp16,985 per dollar.
“Within five years, we must lift asset value through stronger value creation and reach our goal of tripling it by 2030,” Al-Arief said during a panel discussion broadcast on the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming’s YouTube channel.
To achieve the target, Danantara plans to merge 1,068 state-owned enterprises into about 221 entities within the next three to four years. At present, those companies are managed under roughly 50 holding firms.
“From more than a thousand companies, we aim to transform them into just over 200 professionally run enterprises that can compete globally,” Al-Arief said.
He said the consolidation is designed to boost efficiency, professionalism and competitiveness, in line with Indonesia’s goal of becoming a high-income country by 2045.
Two firms in Danantara’s portfolio — state oil and gas giant Pertamina and power utility PLN — are already listed in the Fortune Global 500, Al-Arief noted.
He said the transformation is expected to bring more Indonesian firms onto the prestigious ranking.

The restructuring will begin with fundamental reviews of each business line, followed by mergers and streamlining, and ultimately by measures aimed at increasing long-term value, he said.
Indonesia’s government has increasingly relied on Danantara to drive reform across its sprawling state sector, which has long been criticized for inefficiency and overlapping mandates.
Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Roeslani previously said Indonesia’s presence at the 56th World Economic Forum annual meeting is part of a broader push to raise the country’s global competitiveness.
Indonesia’s delegation to Davos includes the Investment and Downstreaming Ministry, Danantara Indonesia and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin).
