Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said in a statement received in Jakarta on Friday that he has instructed the hospital to optimize the use of advanced medical equipment already available to support complex medical procedures.
“Complex but traditional? No. I want it to be complex but advanced, because the equipment is already very good,” he said on Thursday during a visit to the hospital, which was built through a grant from the United Arab Emirates government.
Beyond physical infrastructure, Sadikin emphasized the need to enhance medical personnel capacity through a structured mentoring system to ensure high quality services for the public.
Eniarti, President Director of Dr. Sardjito General Hospital, which serves as the mentoring institution, said her hospital is currently implementing a five years of technical assistance to ensure readiness of human resources and effective knowledge transfer in cardiac care.
United Arab Emirates Ambassador to Indonesia Abdulla Salem AlDhaheri expressed his country’s support for the hospital’s continued operations.
“The UAE is always ready to support our friendly nation, the Republic of Indonesia,” he said.
The UAE government is also reviewing additional support in the form of medical supplies to ensure the hospital’s professional and sustainable operations.
Through collaboration between Indonesia’s Ministry of Health, the Surakarta city government, and support from the UAE government, the Emirates-Indonesia Cardiology Hospital is expected to shorten the referral chain for cardiac services, which has traditionally been lengthy.
The facility is also projected to serve as a model for transforming regional cardiovascular referral services while maintaining service quality on par with international standards.
