Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Bima Arya Sugiarto, stated that the post-disaster recovery process in several affected areas in Sumatra and West Java continues to progress.

In his statement in Jakarta on Friday, Sugiarto explained that the restoration of basic infrastructure in Sumatra has shown positive progress, both in public services, the education sector, and basic infrastructure.

Electricity connectivity in West Sumatra has been fully restored, while in North Sumatra and Aceh, connectivity is approaching 100 percent.

"Generally, teaching and learning activities are running at 100 percent, with only around 3 percent still using emergency classrooms. Furthermore, electricity in West Sumatra is 100 percent connected, while in North Sumatra, one percent and one percent in Aceh are still without access," Sugiarto said.

The government also aims to speed up the relocation of evacuees to temporary housing within the next month, ensuring that no one remains living in emergency tents.

Regarding public services, Sugiarto emphasized that government offices in the affected areas of Sumatra have generally resumed operations.

"Public services are also fully operational, only Aceh Tamian is still in progress, but cleanup is complete at the government center in Aceh Tamiang City," he said.

Unlike in Sumatra, Sugiarto said that disaster response in Cisarua, West Bandung, still faces major challenges due to difficult terrain and weather conditions that have not fully supported the evacuation process.

He added that the depth of buried material at the disaster site can reach up to 20 meters, complicating the search and evacuation of victims.

However, all resources have been mobilized, and affected residents have received assistance or incentives to support temporary relocation to safer housing, either with relatives or other locations.
