Jakarta (ANTARA) - Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana stated that Indonesia recorded 15.39 million foreign tourist arrivals in 2025, surpassing the government's target of 14–15 million.

"With an actual achievement of 15.39 million, we have exceeded our target and performed better than our previous projections," she said during a meeting with Commission VII of the House of Representatives (DPR) in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Based on foreign tourist arrival figures for 2025, Malaysia was the largest contributor to national tourism revenue, while the United Arab Emirates recorded the highest growth in tourist visits to Indonesia.

Government data shows that the average spending per foreign tourist arrival in 2025 reached US$1,267, surpassing the set target of US$1,220.

Tourism foreign exchange earnings for 2025 are projected to reach US$18.91 billion, a 13.17 percent increase compared to 2024.

In addition, the gap between foreign tourist arrivals to Indonesia and outbound trips by Indonesian citizens in 2025 stood at 6.22 million, widening from 4.94 million in 2024.

“Although this is not a key performance indicator, we monitor this gap as it serves as an indicator of a foreign exchange surplus,” she said.

Meanwhile, the number of domestic tourist trips throughout 2025 reached 1.20 billion, reflecting a 17.55 percent increase compared to the previous year.

During the meeting, Minister Wardhana also reported that realized investment in the tourism sector in 2025 reached Rp73.55 trillion (approximately US$4.38 billion), marking a 56.05 percent growth year-on-year.

“These achievements show that the tourism sector plays a strategic role in supporting national economic growth with direct impacts on the people’s economy,” she concluded.
