Jakarta (ANTARA) - Manpower Minister Yassierli urged vocational training centers (BLKs) to facilitate their training participants' access to employment through stronger networking.

In a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday, he emphasized that BLKs must go beyond merely providing training and issuing certificates; they must actively help participants break into real job opportunities.

“We must do our utmost to ensure that these centers function as they are intended: as hubs for vocational training, innovation, entrepreneurship, and productivity development,” the minister remarked.

To this end, he underscored that BLKs need to take on a broader role that goes beyond teaching to include paving the way into employment.

Yassierli affirmed that the integration of training and job placement is already being practiced at his ministry's own BLKs.

He pointed out that the placement rate for graduates of the ministry-run BLKs has reached 70 percent, driven by a stronger connection between the training process and actual labor market demands.

The minister expressed optimism that this model can also be adopted by regional government-run training centers to ensure that the benefits of vocational training are truly felt by the community.

Apart from that, he also highlighted the key role of Manpower Offices across regions to assist the training graduates, including after the training ends.

"In Manpower Offices, there are employment officers who must assist them. These offices must also collaborate with industry networks," he remarked.

He further said that competency-based training in regions—such as at the Lahat Vocational Training Center in South Sumatra—is being supported by training funded by state budget grants.

He expressed hope that these grants would be optimized to strengthen local training capacities while serving as a foundation for the development of future programs.
