Jakarta (ANTARA) - The government has prepared economic incentives in the form of transportation fare discounts during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr public holiday, with a total budget of Rp911.16 billion or US$54.2 million.

“The total budget is Rp911.16 billion, sourced from both the State Budget (APBN) and non-APBN funds,” Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said during a press conference here on Tuesday.

For rail travel, a 30 percent discount on ticket prices provided by state railway company PT KAI will be applied for trips between March 14 and 29, targeting 1.2 million passengers.

Sea transport fares by state-owned shipping operator Pelni will also receive a 30 percent discount on base ticket prices for trips from March 11 to April 5, targeting 445 thousand passengers.

For ferry services by PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry, a 100 percent discount will apply to port service fees, valid from March 12 to 31, targeting 945 thousand vehicles and 2.4 million passengers.

Air travel will receive a 17-18 percent discount for domestic economy-class trips between March 14 and 29, targeting 3.3 million passengers.

Hartarto said the stimulus continues previous holiday incentives, which had a positive impact on the economy. During Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026, mobility and tourism activity increased, supporting 5.39 percent GDP growth in the fourth quarter.

During Eid 2025, mobility reached 154.62 million people, while it reached 110.43 million during the Christmas and New Year holidays. Discounts had benefited 3.15 million air passengers, 3.58 million rail passengers, 798,000 sea passengers, and 518,000 ferry passengers with 1.1 million vehicles.

The incentives also boosted tourism, attracting 1.41 million international visitors and 105.98 million domestic tourists.

Overall, national economic growth in 2025 was maintained at 5.11 percent year-on-year.
